What are same-day crowns?
Previously, if you needed a crown, impressions of your teeth were sent to a dental lab. While the lab sculpted your permanent crown, the dentist put on a temporary crown to protect the tooth. You had to schedule a second visit for the dentist to attach the permanent crown once it was created and sent to the dentist.
However, Family Dentistry of Lakewood uses CEREC technology to speed up the process. The crown is created in our office rather than a lab, and the procedure takes one visit rather than two.

What is the dental crown procedure?
Dr. Jutric takes 3D images of your teeth and uses software to create a virtual model. The in-office mill uses the model to sculpt a porcelain crown custom-made for you. The whole process can be completed in one visit.

How long do dental crowns and bridges last?
They can last many years, typically 10-15 years or longer. Good oral hygiene, regular dental check-ups, and avoiding habits like teeth grinding can help extend the lifespan of your restorations.
